I am still trying to put peices together of my grandfather Clarence "Steadman" Mckay. He was born February 9, 1909, Cherryfield, Lunenburg Co. He grew up not knowing his father (only a name), and going by his step-fathers surname of Murphy after his mother moved to the valley with him. His mother was Mary Ella Acker 1888-1979 d/o John Ambrose Acker. Gramp had a hard time getting a birth certificate when he needed it, they could find no record for him any wheres. Since he had passed we found out that his mother and "father", had not been married till March 3, 1909 (after he was born), and his father had re-married (not been killed as he was told) after he moved to the USA. Also on a record that was sent to the family has him down in the 1911 census as 2 being born in 1908, then the 1908 is crossed out and 1909 written below. I am starting to believe he was more than likely born an Acker, but have searched that name to, so am lost again. Anyone have any ideas where I could possibly find this info?

I have viewed Nellie (Ellen) and Steadman in the 1911 Census and the
split screen showing the actual Census page and the 1908 is not crossed out.
She says she is of Dutch origin and Steadman is Irish.

He died 12 oct 1981 in Berwick Nova Scotia, so I do not think he left to the States. I have all the information on the ancestry backwords but nothing forward from him.
