Hi Sandra

Although you appear to be researching Coleman's in Canada, I wondered whether you may have come across a William Coleman, Shoemaker, who married a Jane/June? Randle/Randell. I only know, definitely, of one of their children who was my great grandfather.

He was George Henry Coleman:
- b 1882 Leicester, Leicestershire, England
- m 1906 Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to Jessie Margaret Christy
- d 1957 Boronia, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
- ch George, Ethel, Winifred, Jessie, Beryl, Edward, Ronald

I don't know for sure the names of George Henry's siblings but another family member has said there may have been Rose, Alf, Ginny, Martha.

William's mother was present at the birth of George Henry and her name was Esther Coleman of Belgrave Road, Leicester.

Jane Randle may have been an alcoholic and died young.

I haven't yet found out when George Henry came to Australia, so don't know if he came alone as an adult and married later, or if he came as a child with family.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Deanne

I have found a William Coleman(shoemaker) & Wife- noted on the "Bates passenger lists" as leaving London, England on the ship "Baltimore" arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1749.
they were noted as"thought to have gone quietly to New England" I have also found a Wm. Coleman, Shoemaker, listed in the Horton Township,N.S. in 1791 censes-no family listed. there is mention of the name William in other doc. but nothing I can connect + to my reserch. I'm sure you are fasing the same problem. records are so vague.
Good-luck in you search, Sandra

Hi
I am trying to trace my family - Coleman - born UK - my great great, Michael Coleman left for Nova Scotia, Canada in the 1700's married another passenger on board. then had family. Doctor I believe and then something to do with a bank there and a fur shop. One of the sons returned to London, was also a doctor and from there my grandfather was born.
Does this connect with anything you have?
Thanks
Wyn Coleman
