Hi,

I am trying to get more infos on the following couple:

Francis-James Joncas (Joseph-Phylias (Philippe) and Henrietta Socier) married Margaret-Beatrice Carter on July 19, 1898 in Newcastle, NB.

They moved to Port-Hawkesbury where they were living with 5 kids in 1911:
Helen-Margaret, born 1899
Mary-Monica (Mona) born 1902
Herbert born 1903
Loretta born 1908
Carter born 1908

I would like to know if this family stayed for a while there, if the kids married there and if there are still Joncas descendants in the area?

Thank you all!

JP

I found the following obituary:

Angus MacInnis DEC. 24, 1915-JULY 3, 2OO6 It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Mr. Angus MacInnis of 15 Rockdale Ave., Glace Bay,
at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex, in his 90th year. Angus was born in
Inverness, N.S., and was the youngest son of John S. MacInnis and Mary
MacIsaac of River Street in Inverness.
.....
Angus was predeceased by four sisters, Cassie (Hugh) McIsaac, Inverness,
Peggy (Joe) MacKenna, Massachusetts, Kaye (Francis) MacNeil, Glace Bay, and
Tina (Carter) Joncas, Dartmouth.

So i presumed Tina MacInnis was the wife of Carter Joncas.

Also, you will find an entry of a Carter Joncas, in Canada411 living in South Bar, (Sydney area) Nova Scotia and a few more Joncas entries in N.S.

I just find this entry in Family Tree Maker

Merry Chrismas and happy genealogy in 2009!

This is not a name that I am researching or connected with but I did a quick search of Canada 411 and found 9 Joncas households in Nova Scotia all of which were in Halifax County. There is a listing for a Carter Joncas-most likely the same family. If you can take rejection you might just simply try a phone call. I've done that in the past with some good results and some "slammed doors". Sometimes the person has no interst but knows someone in the family who does.

Carter Joncas married Christina McInnis and lived in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. All 5 members of the family, have been deceased for some time. Carter has one son Kevin, living in Calgary and another, Carter Jr. living in Dartmouth, A sister Karen also resides in Dartmouth. Mona had a son who lives in Moncton, N.B.Helen did not marry and did not have any children. I was married to Carter's son and remained friends of Tina and Carter sr, until they passed away.

Hi,

I think I missed your reply of April 2010.

Could you indicate who you were married to, dates, kids, etc?

Would you know if those Joncas are interested in knowing about their origins?

Thank you.

Hi Darrin,

I have the genealogy of your Joncas up to the first Joncas to arrive in Québec in 1665.

I have some infos on Carter Joncas and his brothers and sisters. However, I do not have all their birth, no marriages and no death dates.

If you want to know more, let me know.

Merci encore!
