Hi All.
The lot next to James Gilmore Scott in Goshen on the western side was granted to Abel Harvie and George Harvie.Leland Harvie in his Harvie Genealogy has #3A,George on page 222,son of John Harvie and Alice Wilcox m.23 Dec.1812 to Mary Mitchner b.1794 d.12 Oct.1821.The parents of Mary Mitchner are not listed but George and Mary's son is apparently Abel Harvie.John Duncanson does not list a dau. named Mary for Capt.Abel Michener in his book "Newport,Nova Scotia-A Rhode Island Township".Capt.Abel Michener is on page 313.Mary(Michener)Harvie dies and George m. Pamela Blackburn and has sons named Scott,George and Terrence and daus.Mary and Pamela Ann.
George and Mary(Mitchner)Harvie have a son named Abel who m. 16 Oct, 1840 Ruth Maria Marsters, dau. of Robert Marsters and Margaret Allen of Kempt Shore.Ref. Harvie Gen.They also have Andrew,Jane Alinda,Maria and Alice.
Abel and Ruth(Marsters)Harvie have a son Ezekial Knowlton Harvie who m. Laura P. Card, dau. of Charles Jeremiah Card and Margaret Skaling.
Ezekial and Laura(Card) Harvie have a son Albert DOUGLAS m.Myrtle Thomas, dau. of Charles Thomas and Mary Reynolds.
So the Douglas Harvie that Edith Mosher refers to has a grandmother named Ruth (Marsters)Harvie and one named Margaret(Skaling)Card.
Is there any record of one of them having an Acadian ancestor?
John Duncanson does say in his Newport book on page 313 that Capt. Abel Michener says that "he and Jeffers reported that they had given up their Newport farm and "pitched on land in the undivided"-at the Upper Village on the north side of the Cogmagun River".The grant map in the back of John Duncanson's Newport book shows lot A7 on the Cogmagun River in the names of Abel Michener and John Jeffers with no name on the next two lots downriver on the north side.
This is the area where Edith Mosher says the Acadian graves existed and I have heard that there are Acadian graves in the Sandyland Cemetary by the Cormagun River bridge on the Walton woods road.
The George Harvie that witnessed Deed # 12 would appear to be the George Harvie that m. Mary Michener, father of Abel Harvie.
Any help much appreciated.
