We have an Eliza McLellan in the 1871 census, age 56,married to Allen McLellan.
Eliza's death cert.(1874) says her mother was Catherine Parker and father was Joseph Parker.
The 1871 census also has a Walton household with Thomas Parker, age 69,and Catherine and children who would appear to be his wife and children because of same last name.I think it was probably his daughter who also married a Parker and their children.
However,I believe that Catherine,Thomas' and Eliza's mother was a Burgess,prob.the dau. of Thomas Burgess(the son of the N.S.Planter Benjamin in Centre Burlington,Newport,N.S.) and Elizabeth(Pate) Burgess.I believe it went;
Benjamin(5)Burgess m.Hannah Church(pg.117,Duncanson,Newport
Thomas(6)Burgess m.Elizabeth Pate,dau. of Priscilla Haliburton(Pate)Card and step-daughter of Jonathan Card.
Catherine(7)(Burgess)Parker m.Joseph Parker
Eliza Parker m.Allen McLellan
I would appreciate anyone confirming or refuting this theory.
Thank you,frankmosher@eastlink.ca

Elizabeth Parker (1814-June 27, 1874) is my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandmother she was born the daughter of Joseph Parker & Catherine Terhune she was the first wife of Allen McLellan (1816-April 1899).

It seems like it might be Catherine (Terhune) Parker that your interested in? She was the daughter of Albert Terhune (1767-1857) and Catherine Grant (c. 1761-????)

I have a fair amount of research on these families if you have any other questions I would be willing to help...

Jamie

I am directing this to Jamie of Halifax but others may be able to help.I am trying to find the wife of Thomas Parker.Thomas is the son of William Parker and Mary(Hardaker)Parker.I believe he may have married a dau. of Thomas Burgess and Elizabeth (Pate)Burgess.Elizabeth was the dau. of Priscilla, born Haliburton.Priscilla m. Robert Pate and had a dau. and when Robert Pate died Priscilla m.Jonathan Card, the New England Planter in Newport,N.S.
Elizabeth(Pate) Burgess may have been a step-daughter of Jonathan Card and may have been known as Elizabeth Card.
George Hiram Burgess m.Georgianna McLellan, dau. of Allen and Sophia (Terhune) McLellan.Allen McLellan had a brother named Hersey.
Georgianna and Hersey were Haliburton names so I am wondering if they came down thru Thomas Parkers wife. Can you help.
Bye for now,Frank Mosher

Hi Jamie.
Thanks for that quick reply but that still doesn't fit.I think I may be looking for Joseph Parker's first wife,Janet McLellan.I am descended from Stephen Terhune, the brother of the Catherine Terhune that m.Joseph Parker as his second wife.
Joseph Parker's first wife was Anne McLellan,a dau. of Thomas and Janet McLellan. They had one boy and one girl.Do you know their names? Was Janet McLellan a Burgess, dau. of Thomas and Elizabeth(Pate)Burgess?Joseph Parker being the son of William and Mary(Hardaker)Parker.
Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
Frank Mosher.
