I am part of the McCullions that use the "ION." You said your grandfather was MichaelIs.Is he the son of Edward (Ned) McCullion from Jim Thope PA? That was probably the sibling of my ancestor (Great-Great Grandfather) Daniel McCullion and his brother James who settled in Pottsville, PA. Two of the first children were born in Burlington, N.J but settled in Pottsville. The Irish immigrant brother James settled in Delaware County, PA and changed the spelling of the name to McCullough (?). Two of the first generation sons, Daniel Jr (17th PA. Cav) and James (6th PA Cav. - Rush's Lancers) were civil war vets. That James was my great grandfather. I too grew up in Philly but now lived in Colorado.
