Hugh MUNRO was born abt 1809 and Margaret BROWN was born Dec 12 1814 as per the 1901 Census.

I am hoping that someone out there might know where they were born in NS; who their parents were?

THE 1881 CENSUS FOR FERGUSON'S COVE LISTS BOTH OF THEM AS BEING OF SCOTTISH NATIONALITY.

I knew that he was Scottish and she was Irish, according to the 1881 and that they are both listed as being born in Nova Scotia but that's as far as I've gotten.

Hugh indicates that *both* his parents were born in NS in the 1891 Census.

Hugh Munro was my great, great, great grandfather on my maternal side of the family. I have been working on this line for a few years.

I believe he and his siblings were born in Herring Cove. In 1823 he converted to the Catholic faith. He was 16 years of age at the time, which would put him born 1807. This info is according to church records.

My Great Grnd Mother Isabelle Munroe's (b 1836) parents were Hugh and Margaret...There is a grave for a Hugh G Munroe B 1835 (her brother?) in an obscure cemetary in Herring Cove. I can share picts and docs that I have found.
