Born March 17, 1934 in Myers Point, she was the daughter of the late Harland and Ivy (Myers) Mills. Jean was a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church in Head of Jeddore. She worked as a part-time caretaker with the former Halifax County-Bedford District School Board and also was a mail driver for a number of years. Her family and her home were at the heart of everything she did and that was the source of her greatest pride. She will also be remembered as a good and true friend and a wonderful listener who would receive company in her home with a great kindness and warmth. Jean loved to work in her gardens and could often be found there with her dog, Moka. She grew beautiful flowers and enjoyed showing them to family and friends who would drop by. Jean is survived by her sons, Paul (Patricia) and Michael (Janice) and her grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, Sarah, Isaac, and Seth. Jean is also survived by her sister and lifelong friend, Elvie (Leslie) Myers and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, John "Earl"; son, Scott; brother, Harland Mills. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, whose special care will always be remembered. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rowling's Funeral Service, Musquodoboit Harbour. A celebration of her life will be held in St. James Anglican Church, Head of Jeddore, on Tuesday, January 3 at 11 a.m., Rev. Tricia Ingram officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital or St. James Anglican Church.
