SETTLE, John Ira - 75, Halifax, passed away June 20, 2006, in Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Harriett (Beck) Settle. He was employed with the City of Dartmouth in the accounting department upon moving over to the Federal Government Department of Supply and Services until his retirement. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved all animals. He is survived by sister, Margaret Settle, Halifax, and good friend and caregiver, Bart Dixon. He was predeceased by sister, Beatrice Eddy; brothers, Lorne, Arthur, Allen, and stepsister, Shirley O'Hearn. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family burial in Woodlawn Cemetery 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, with a reception to follow in Woodlawn United Church Hall. Donations to a charity of choice.
