MARRYATT, Violet Gertrude - 98, Halifax, passed away peacefully June 30, 2006, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Katie (Longard) Isner. Violet worked at Sears Catalogue Shopping Department until her retirement in 1973. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church and served many years with the UCW. Violet is lovingly remembered for the poems she wrote and recited and the little tunes she learned to play on her keyboard. Surviving are son, Blair (Colleen), Halifax; sister, Marjorie Hild, Hubley; granddaughter, Denice (Patrick) Willoughby, Dartmouth; great-grandson, Justin Willoughby; several nieces and nephews, and close family friend, Anne Kelly. She was predeceased by husband, Clarence; infant son, Kenneth; brothers, Murray and Borden; sister, Dorothy Ward. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, July 3, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, in St. Paul's United Church, Rev. Calvin Ginn officiating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Halifax. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
