Hi Judy, I haven't found anything else for sure about Mary Ann, but I only have a look once and a while, someday I'll have to get in to the archives and do an in depth search. I think she might be the grandaughter of George Nolte a Hessian soldier who settled in Dutch Village. He had two sons and I know who they married but not their children. They are the right age to have Mary Ann. But I don't know for sure if either settled in Shubenacadie.

On the Nova Scotia Vital Stats there are only a few from the Nolter family in Shubenacadie, they claim to be German (census) which supportes the Hessian theory, and with the dates on the Vital Stats the earlies dates could give me the names of either a brother or nephew to Mary Ann, but no proof just speculation. Still lots more work to be done, I guess the next step would be some land records.

In any case, my email is dlselig (at) ns (dot) sympatico (dot) ca if you would like to contact me personally, if you are from James and Mary Ann then you would be my husband's cousin. No hurry I won't be able to get back to you until later in the week.

Bye for now,
Dorothy

Hi Dorthy or Judy,

I have Nolter's in my family. My grandmother was Hanora (Crowe) Nolter and my grandfather was George William Nolter Jr. His father was George William Nolter Sr. and his wife was Virginia Viola Diebler. I have found a third gen. cousin, Jeff Nolter, who's father was Earl Nolter, married to Lucielle. Lucielle is still living. Earl's father, John F. Nolter was my grandfather George Jr.'s brother. They were from PA. My great-grandmother Viola always said that they were PA Dutch. I have dates, etc. if either are interested. Nolter is such an uncommon name that you never know. My personal email is witchez6@msn.com

Hi Dorothy, you just never know when someone will pop up with questions and info!

Nolter and Nolte genealogy is sure hard to find! I'm descended from Daniel Nolter and Elizabeth Noble through their sone Samuel Kirkwood Nolter. Daniel and Elizabeth also had Jeanette Nolter who married James William Smith. If the information is correct on here, then James William Smith's parents were James and Mary Ann. I don't have an account with Ancestry, so I can't determine some things, but I'm assuming that Daniel Nolter is the son of George Nolte and Susan Tracey (from what I've seen on ancestry that I can get into). Can you tell me who the two sons of George Nolte were? Did you find out who Mary Ann Nolter's parents were?
