Linda thanks for all the info which I will digest later over the weekend here is some of what I have from my Grandmother about her family.

"Uncle Charlie was apprenticed as a Cooper and also as a mason did monumental work for the church and churchyard which was almost on their doorstep. All were devout Roman Catholics. Uncle Charlie travelled a bit in his younger days visiting Bermuda and the West Indies but remained a quiet reserved man and eventually married and settled down in the Eastern Passage, building a home near to Gran's place and doing a lot of work for the Church. William went to Halifax where he went into property and he also owned a billiard hall in the City. Walter worked for a liquor company in Halifax and Jerry did the same in Dartmouth. Jerry also bought up a lot of land and building plots at Lake Echo N.S. later Walter and John joined him in the same occupation. Margaret married a farmer and lived at Burnside Farm Dartmouth. Ann my mother married Quartermaster Sergeant Alfred William SIMMONS Royal Engineers. Mary married Jack Thorne Royal Engineers. The Engineers; had a base there until it closed in 1897 and they all came back to Britain. Jane married very well and went to Toronto. Grace Bridget also married well, a McKeane from Halifax but they parted after the birth of their only child Evadney (she was brought up by my grandmother and later joining my sister and myself when we boarded at St. Joseph's Convent in Halifax after the death of my father when we returned to Halifax in 1908). Grace went to Seattle after making quite a bit of money at the time of the gold rush. I was told that she was a "waitress", she owned quite a lot of pure gold and bracelets etc. which she acquired whilst living and working in the gold area."
