New. Harbour Nickersons

Surnames: Nickerson Sangster
I am looking for information on the early Nickersons of New Harbour. I know Charles was a founder. Jesse and James were sons of his. It looks from the 1817 census that there were 4 male Nickersons between age 16-49 living in New Harbour, split between the households of Jesse and James? I have an ancestor, Margaret Ann Nickerson, born abt 1820 who I am trying to fit into one of these families. These men are the correct age to be her father. James has a pretty detailed family tree and apparently moved his family to PEI, so I don't think she belongs there. Jesse has no lineage online that I can find, and I can find no information on who those other 2 men might be. I assumed a teen son, but James, for example, only had very young children in 1817. So he could have been living with another brother or brother in law.
There is nothing in the 1827 census. I have combed every other census and come up with no leads.
I can't find cemetery records for that generation. All the Nickersons in Riverside seem to be from the 1850s or beyond.
They are truly mysterious.
The only thing I know about Margaret Ann is that she married James Sangster in 1842, which is where I'm getting her age from.
I feel like there must be a source of records for that period of time in New Harbour that I am just overlooking. Maybe some of you know where to find my Nickersons?

Thanks,
Amy

Hi, Amy. I have a Lucy Ann Nickerson who married Ephraim Mason in my tree -- I am related to the Masons.
From what I can gather, her father Charles Nickerson, Sr. was married twice -- 1st wife -- Susan Smith -- sons James b. 1790, Jesse b. 1792 and Nathan b. 1798 and daughters Sarah b. 1800, Elizabeth b. 1789 and Susannah, died 1821. His second wife was Elizabeth Smith and their children were Charles Joseph, Jr. born 1814 -- he married Margaret Sangster, Lucy Ann b. about 1810 and married Ephraim Mason, Rebecca born about 1810 and David (d. 1836).
This info comes from other family trees as well as census records but needs to be confirmed.

Hope this helps a little. You might be able to find more info through death records, etc., at www.novascotiagenealogy.com

Hmmm, that answers some questions and answers others!
If those dates are accurate, Jesse was 29 in 1817. So one of the +16 year olds in his house could have been a teen son. James was 27. Certainly old enough to have a teenager, but I bet the other man in his household was Nathan, who would have been 19. There is a Mrs Nickerson in the census, who is listed as having 2 boys and another woman living with her. That doesn't quite square with your info, so I'm not sure what was going on there.
Unfortunately, the Nova Scotia geneaology site doesn't have any Nickersons of the vintage I'm looking for. Their records seem to start in the 1840s, though Margaret Ann's marriage isn't even in there. I got that from Guysborough Sketches.
Thanks for your reply.
