Just trying to search for my grandfather's family. All I know is that my grandfather's name is Roy Haggart, his father's name is Haggart and mother's name is Smiley and they are from Nova Scotia...anyone know where I could look?
Thanks.

Have you checked St James Anglican Church in Port Dufferin, Halifax County, lots of Smiley's there. Good Luck!

Hello:
I have a Duncan Haggart whose wife is Euphemia SMILLIE. They lived in Laggan, Pictou County.
Duncan was born 1903 and Euphemia b 1908.
I have two of their children, Evaline and James. I don't know if your Roy is related, but Euphemia's name is close to your spelling above.
A Haggart.

Well, I definitely could be wrong about the spelling of Smiley/Smillie...so, they definitely could be related. My grandfather Roy Haggart was born around or in the 1920's, could have been early 30's too, I'm really not sure. The reason I don't have much info is because he was a native Nova Scotian, however, something happened and he was "disowned" by his family. He then moved to Montreal where he met my grandmother. My grandmother would never talk about his past and my father is the only one she has ever confided in and he won't give me an inch of information. But, I'm determined to do this with or without him, I feel it's my right as Roy's granddaughter.
I do know that Roy had a brother named Russell Haggart who visited him a couple of times...do you know anyone named Russell Haggart???
