I am a descendant of Elizabeth through her daughter, Elizabeth's (B.1777 – d.1814) marriage in Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Canada to John Nash, (1778 – 1814) who I believe was born in Ireland. They had a daughter named Ellen (1800 – 1860) who married John Devereaux (1790 – 1850)who immigrated from County Wexford.

I would appreciate any help in finding mentions of Elizabeth Perry Aikens and Samuel. Are they in Carleton's Loyalist index to the names of Loyalists and their associates contained in the British headquarters papers, New York City, 1774-1783? I don't know how to access it. Also, since they apparently were both born in Pennsylvania, how did they end up in New York in 1777?

Also do transcripts of gravestones in Guysborough?
Thank you so much.

Samuel & Elizabeth Perry Aikens remain as brick walls for many of us.

Burials at Christ Church in Guysborough are listed on the local Genweb site, I believe. Or contact their historical society.

Good luck ! lw

I ran across this history of the Samuel Aikens. I don't know how accurate it is but it seems his wife, Elizabeth Perry, was a fairly close relative of William Penn, of Pennsylvania fame.

The William Penn connection is our family's oral history, but I can find no proof of that anywhere. lw
