So 1864 being the year that NS starting keeping track of births, marriages, ect, it seems like the Canadian people born before this year are all but impossible to find. I can find some vague immigration records, (
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/immigration/immigratio...; )but with a gap in the paper trail it's hard to find the relevant information.
For example,
Rebecca Duggan (4th g-gm) Born 1827 in Prospect, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Death 24th Oct. 1904 Nova Scotia, Canada
Due to a consensus, I was able to find that she Married John Edgar and had 4 children. (James, Charlotte, Honora, Mary.)
James (1845-1912)
Charlotte (1848-)
Honora (1850-1919)
Mary (1854-)
Her husband John Edgar was born in Engalnd.
She is just one of quite a few family members who become very difficult to find in Nova Scotia after 1864. I don't knoow how I should go about seeking her parents, ect. Let me know if anyone else has encountered this problem and how they handle it.
