I have hit a brick wall and ANY help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Mary E McQuaid was born in Nova Scotia in September 1841.
She had a son named Daniel A Gaffney (a direct line to me)who was born in St. John, New Brunswick on April 17, 1870. I found the two on a census in Massachusetts starting in 1900, where they lived.
Mary McQuaid married a Jordan Lee, who Daniel lived with during the 1900 census with some half-siblings. After that, Daniel was married and in his own home.
I believe Mary and Jordan were married in NY in 1876, but I have no records of them there or in Canada, or a confirmation of Daniel's father's name. I know on one record it says the father's name is also Daniel Gaffney, but I don't considered it 'confirmed'.
Daniel has a naturalization card for 20 Sep 1905, and census' that say he arrived in 1886/1889. But there is no 'arrival' date for Mary, although she was already married to Jordan by 1876.

ANY documents for them in Canada or anything before 1900 would be amazing! I do not know Mary's parents names other than that her mother was born in Canada England, and her father was born in Scotland.
I am posting this under Saint John, and Gen. Nova Scotia, and other related boards.

I really want to know who/ what happend to Daniel's father.
