Classification: Query
Surnames: Jackson
John Jackson, son of William(b1819) and Ann Jackson (b1807)

Birth Mar 1843 in Haltwhistle, Northumberland, England
He married Married Mary Tinling.. and moved to Novia Scotia in the mid 1870's from what I have been told. Records show from 1881 that his wife is back in Northumberland as a widow.
Can't find any records when they left for Nova Scotia, why and how and when he died.. anyone shed some light here?

Further to his Death Record being in NS Vital Stats (on Line)
next to his Death Record is also a second lad, John Potts, from England that died in the same mine accident in Pictou County Aug.15,1874.
https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/
Furthermore the Birth Records of Dau. Catherine Dec20, 1872 and son Charles April6,1874. Sounds like son John in the 1881 Census with his mom.
Cheers

The marriage of John Jackson and Mary Tinling was in Warden, Northumberland England on May 25, 1867

In the 1871 census of Nova Scotia John Jackson is listed as follow:
John Jackson 32 yrs old Engineer born England
Mary wife 30 yrs old born England
Children both born England :
George Wm 3 yrs old, Elizabeth A. 1 yr old

Now as Elizabeth A. being 1 yr old and born in England it was not long before this census that they arrived in Canada.

Info in that site comes from the NS Dept. of Mines. Has John's initials wrong but lists Jorn Potts dying that day too. Rope broke. Interesting site.
