I'm working on Nova Scotia ancestors, primarily Frasers and McPhees, and found these statements:

"...son of Donald Fraser (Bann) and Janet (McKay) Fraser."

"He identified his Grandmother as having been a (Bann) Fraser."

I don't have a clue what the word "Bann" means. I only see it used with the Fraser name.

Does this make perfect sense to any of you? I went to bed last night with Bann rumbling through my brain. Help!
