My great-grandfather, Thomas Milton Brewster, is believed to have been born in Nova Scotia (according to his death certificate) in Jan or Feb 1861. He married Margaret Elizabeth Moore, of Hainesville, NB. He immigrated to the US in 1886 and she followed in 1887. They settled in the Houlton/Presque Isle, Maine area. He was a shoemaker. Once settled, they had the following children: Laura, Nellie, Warren, Margaret/Margeurite (my grandmother), Sheridan, and Herbert.
We are trying to find information regarding Thomas's father, who we believe to be Ephraim/Effram Brewster. It is also believed that Ephraim/Effram was a loyalist during the Am. Revolution and escaped/fled to Canada during or after the war. Some in the family also hold the belief that he immigrated directly from England. Any help in tracing either Brewster would be greatly appreciated.
