Hello, I think you mean Savary Park.(Some say Savory) I have a family connection way back in the family tree through Sarah Anne Savary b. May, 14, 1786 died Feb. 4, 1876. married twice, to Armand Comeau, and secondly Charles Thibault, where I descend from...
Their daughter, Deidamia Anne Thibault b. June 27th, 1818 married a Comeau, One of the Comeau children, Eliza Comeau, is my great-grandmother.
I am from the Plympton area, but live in Halifax, Nova Scotia now.
I have been to the "Savary House" last summer owned by a descendant, as a summer home. The family plot is at the park, and it is a lovely spot by the shore. I'm sure others on this site can give you more info. on the Savary's. If you need more on a specific branch of the Savary family let me know and write me at my e-mail address.
Good luck,
Yvelle

Hi Folks,
Just to add a bit of info to your Savary search, there is a biography of Nathan Savary(the pioneer to Digby County) in the Digby County History (pages 324/5). The park, if I remember correctly, was named after him. He was married twice, his second wife being Deidamia Sabin (or Sabean, as it now is often spelled).Dedamia was a sister to my g-g-g-g-grandmother, Sarah, who married Borden Thurber. They were the daughters of Jeremiah Sabin and Susanna LaVallee.
Deidamia is said to be the first English child born at Sissiboo (Weymouth) in 1765. Jeremiah Sabin was an early settler to Argyle, Yarmouth County, in 1762 -- By 1765, he had moved to the Weymouth area.Hope this helps some...

Hi John. I just wanted to say hello because I believe that Sarah Sabin is also my ggggg grandmother through my great grandmother Elizabeth Thurber Corey. According to the information I've seen, Sarah & Borden had a son, Mark. His son, Isaac came to Campobello Island in 1844. He had a son, Sylvanus who had Elizabeth. In your searches, have you ever come across any of these names? Also, I've seen genealogies that trace Sarah Sabin's line back to John Billington who came over on the Mayflower. What have you found on this? I'd love to hear what you know about Sarah's line because I've only recently begun to trace the Thurbers.
Thanks!
Debbie Corey Jones

Hi Debbie,
Pleased to hear from you. Yes, I am familiar with the names you mentioned. Just one correction -- Isaac Thurber, who went to Campobello, was a son of Samuel Thurber and Mary "Polly" Lewis. Samuel Thurber and Mark Thurber were brothers, the sons of Borden Thurber and Sarah Sabin.
Regarding John Billington : Our Sabin line does lead back to him, and he was on the Mayflower, along with his son, Francis -- from what I have read, they caused some trouble on the ship, during that voyage. John Billington has the dubious distinction of being the first man " legally hanged" for "wilful murder", in the American colonies. Closest I can find to a "famous" ancestor of mine ! (grin).
I'll send you what info I have on your line shortly....
Best Regards,
John

Hi John,
Thank you so much for the information. I appreciate the correction on Isaac Thurber's parents. I have read some "interesting" things about the Billingtons. I think I get a bigger kick out of the notorious ancestors than the "normal" ones :~)
I look forward to seeing any information you could send me. Thanks & God bless you!
Debbie

Hi John
After reading this post, I see I need to clear up a mistake in my research. You see I have Isaac as Borden and Sarah's son but you say that he is their grandson. Could you fill me in witn the info between Borden and Isaac. Also I have Borden having a second marriage to a Mary Shaw, is this correct? Hopefully this is the only mistake I have on this line of my research.

Hi Mike,
We're actually talking about two different Isaac Thurbers - Borden Thurber had a son Isaac, and a grandson Isaac.
Borden's children by first wife, Sarah Sabin, were: Mark b. ca 1770; Samuel b. ca 1775; Benjamin b. ca 1777; Isaac b. 1782; Ruth b.?... This Isaac Thurber married Mary Prime and lived at Freeport.
Borden' son, Samuel, married Mary "Polly" Lewis - they had a son Isaac, b. 1816 - died 9 Jan 1901, who married Alvinia Greenlaw, b. ca 1814, N.B. They moved from Freeport, Digby County, to Campobello Is., N.B. in 1844. Their children were: Elias, b. 1842, N.S.; Handford, b.1845,N.B.; Sylvannus, b.27 Jan 1848, N.B.; Ann, b.1852,N.B.; Elizabeth, b. 1855,N.B.; and John Wesley, b. 18 May,1858,N.B.
Borden Thurber married (2nd) Mary Shaw, and had son John, who taught school at Freeport in 1809/10. Little more is known about this John Thurber.
Hope this helps. Where do you connect to this family? Lots of familiar names in your post...
Best,
John

Hi John
Thanks for the info, I'm glad that my info wasn't wrong after all but you did add a couple of names and dates for me, Thanks.
My wife Dana Swift is the 5th great grand daughter of Borden, so that is where I join this line. One other question I have for you is, when Borden married Mary, was due to death or divorce and do you know the date of the event?
Thanks alot
Mike
