Surnames: Crosby, Lewis
My grandmother was Esther Muriel Crosby, born April 23, 1905 in Weymouth, NS. Her parents were Leonard Crosby and Bessie (Florence) Lewis. Their house was on a hill overlooking the Bear River Bridge. Any information on my great grandparents would be greatly appreciated.

According to the 1871 Long Island Digby County Census there is Bessie F. Lewis who is 4 years old. Her parents and 2 brothers are listed for House #9. This Lewis family is not my Lewis family who listed for house #17 in the census. This site is

Surnames: Crosby, Webb
My Grandmother was an Ethel Crosby born in Bear River, Nova Scotia in 1899. Her parent's were Harvey M. Crosby born in Canada and Minnie Webb born in Chester, New Jersey. This is all the information I have. I have no other dates. I know they also had three other children: Edith, born in Brooklyn in 1897, William born in 1900, and Willis. Any connections?

I have a marriage certificate showing that Esther Muriel Crosby married Charles Edward Sweet on 8 Nov 1922. The certificate lists the ages of both bride and groom as 18, putting their births at about 1904. Esther's parents are listed as Leonard Crosby, born in Bear River, NS, and Bessie Lewis. Esther's birth place is listed as Digby, NS.

Charles Edward Sweet's birthplace is listed as West Saint John, NB. His parents were George Sweet and Mary Ann Neeley (or Nealey). I'm having trouble linking this Charles Edward Sweet and his parents with the Sweets that are connected to my family in Saint John and St. Martins, NB. I have another Mary Ann Nealey, but she was married to Charles A. Sweet from about 1878 to her death in 1903.

I think maybe you are missing or perhaps mixing up the generations. The marriage certificate of George Sweet and Mable Dykeman can be seen at the NB Archives site. George's parents are listed as Charles Edward Sweet and Mary Neely
http://archives.gnb.ca/Search/VISSE/141B7.aspx?culture=en-CA...

George and Mable are the parents of Charles Edward Sweet according to his birth record which can also be found online at the N B Archive site. He was born 1905 in West St. John, NB. His grandparents were Charles Edward Sweet and Mary Neely.

You can see George age 18, living with his parents Charles and Mary in the 1901 Census
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KHKC-15K

And Charles with his parents George and Mable at
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV95-Y3Y5

I can't explain the error on his marriage certificate; why he would have listed his grandmother as his mother. But the majority of records seem to prove that this was a mistake.
