Hmm... well, if the Ruth you mentioned is the one in the following bibliography listing, I'm guessing you have at least the same information I have, if not more:

"LANGLEY-LONG, Massachusetts-Nova Scotia, 1630-1987"(1987) by Ruth Alicia Long, Needham, Mass.; and Edna Long David

There is also some mention of the LONGs on the Chute Genealogy, but not sure how extensive it is. It would appear, that at some point, the older Peter was believed to POSSIBLY have been a son of either a Jacob or John Henry Long.
