I am her nephew and I am trying to help her resolve some of the mysteries that alluded her in her 40 years of researching our family history. It is amazing what she was able to discovery especially in a time without speedy communication and computers!
I am specifically looking at the origines of the Peter Long I and whether there is a link between I and II. Some people show I and II as the same people. This is impossible given what we know about each (I - 1784 Muster List; II - born about 1786).
I have reasons to think that they are from the same family. Peter Long I made representations several times on behalf of discharged Hessian soldier, Jacob Long (Lange). Peter Long II was undoubtably German in heritage given the early census reporting and the interrelationships with the many German peoples of Bear River East. These are not definitive links but provide a strong basis for my hypothesis.
Now I need a few more facts to back it up and more information about where Peter Long I came from.
I am working with Ruth;s revision of the book that you have. This book is entitled Genealogy of the Long Family; Clements Township, NS and Mass 1590-2000. This book is in limited supply but I hope to have it converted to PDF at some point as it would valuable for people researching the Longs.
