I noticed that you mentioned an interest in the Israel family DNA project a few years ago. I have amassed quite a bit of data on this family and have posted most of it on my Ancestor.com "tree". From your messages you are aware of the possible Sephardic connection.
My great grandmother was Martha Serepta Israel (1850) from the Michael line in Buncombe Co., NC. She married Silas Crayton Sitton, thus the name of my tree "Sitton in my Family Tree." I have many theories about this family with most of them pointing back to the Iberian Peninsula pre Auto de Fey. There is also a book "Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean" (the author escapes me right now, sorry) that includes many of the exploits of Abraham Israel de Pisa. None of my research has led me to the German or Canadian lines. There are however, many connections between Salomon of Barbados/Nevis and Hempstead, Nassau Co., New York.
I have never actually met anyone from this family. Your DNA results would be fascinating. Looking forward to comparing notes.
