Sorry, I am searching for land grants for families named Chambers in the Tatamagouche area of Colchester county and the Wallace area of Cumberland county. I will watch for the name Best if any information comes my way.
|
I understand Joshua Best got a land grant in about 1763, or a little later. Wish to confirm this, also as to where it was.
|
Joshua & William Best went to Cumberland county on Nov. 1,1763, to apply for land grants. It is my belief they were successful in getting grants. A Joseph Best was situated in River Hebert, which may have been one they got. I believe it was 500 acres. Wish whatever info I can get, as I am doing research on this family. Joshua seems to have disappeared, so he may have stayed there.

Edward:
I don't know if there is a connection. William Best was my great grandmother's father. He was married to Ann Anderson. They are from the Plymouth Cornwall or Devon area.

The william best I am looking for was born 1707 in either Hampshire county or the Isle of Wight. I THINK joshua was his son. William settled in Kings county, N.S.
