I am looking for information on the Salter family. They were originally settled in Diligent River.

I am searching for Salters from Atlatic, N.C. in the mid to late 1800's.

samuel salter settled in diligent river. he had several sons, one being homer alexander salter, who married bessie vickery. they had three daughters georgina, alice, and sarah

There's actually a book written by one of the Salters from Diligent River. "Loyalists & Planters of Minas Basin" by Robert W. Salter, Printed by Acadian Printing, Amherst, Nova Scotia. It's available through used book dealers. It's mentioned in several threads in the Cumberland County section of the message board.

Have Capt. John "Trueman" Salter b.11 Jun 1872 in Diligent River, son of Samuel W. Salter and Caroline Corbett. Trueman married 30 Jun 1898 in Parrsboro a descendant of my Parrsboro area Smith family, Emily Marion "Minn" Smith dau. of William Lowe Smith and Nancy Almira Wiseman, Trueman died 25 Nov 1950 in Waterville, Kings Co., NS. They had 4 children that I found, Caroline Almira, William W., George Trueman, and an adopted daughter Madeleine Alice Lamb. Don
