Wondering if anyone has any history on Riversdale, Colchester County during the 1800 or early 1900's. Looking for names of people who have lived there and information on the early lumber mill (1800's).

This community is located on the Black River in Central Nova Scotia. Its name was prompted by the prominent natural features. In 1850 the place was considered to be part of Greenfield. In January, 1867 the name of the place was changed from Georgetown to Riversdale. The earliest grants were composed of four adjacent lots given in 1813 to Donald and Alexander McKenzie, and Kenneth and Murdock Munro. The Murdock Innes grant was made in 1817, and the village site was granted to George Duncan in 1850. A school-house was built in 1874. A Postal Way Office was established in 1867. The Pictou Branch Railway was completed between Truro and Riversdale by December 31, 1866. A station was erected by July, 1867. Farming is the main industry. Population in 1956 was 53.[source - 'Place Names and Places of Nova Scotia' by Public Archives of Nova Scotia,1967]

I live in Truro Nova Scotia which is near Riversdale. An acquaintance has written a book " THE RIVERSDALE BOOK 1820 -1930 ". He provides much information about the early history of the community including the lumber business and the railway. He has researched the families who lived there and profiles many of the people.
He gave me permission to give you his name and telephone number. Kenneth B. Cox (902)893-9150. I am sure you will find the book a historical and genealogical goldmine.
Best regards, Henry MacConnell

Surnames: McKimmie/MacKimmie
I have been looking for information on two brothers, Alexander A. McKimmie/MacKimmie and James William McKimmie/MacKimmie who worked at the lumber mill in Riversdale in the late 1800's. I have been told that Alexander was a manager of the mill at one time. He lived in Riversdale for many years and died there in 1895. James was my great grandfather. There are family rumors that James died at the mill either as the result of an accident or was killed in a fight. This was in 1892. Since there is a gap in the NS death records during that time, I have not been able to find any information. Would appreciate any help with this.

Kenneth, we have met before but I no longer live in Truro or Nova Scotia. I was wondering whether you had found any further information on William Wall or William Johnston and wife, Esther?
