You seem to be quite knowledgable of the areas of my family interest (Pleasant Valley and Brookfield). I wonder if you might have any info that could help my search. My ancestors are BRENNANS and SHORTTS from both mentioned locations. My grandfather was JOSEPH PATRICK BRENNAN born around 1897. Joseph was raised by ELLEN BRENNAN (daughter of Solomon brennan and Johanna Shortt) who may have been his grandmother. Along with Ellen was a MARTINA BRENNAN (I think her daughter). At some point after 1901 Joseph was taken in by an elderly couple named McPHERSONS who lived on a farm somewhere "above Shortts Lake".Joseph was then placed in St Patricks boys home in Halifax before being brought to live on the homestead of RONALD and ELLEN (shortt) MacDONALD in Truro.
