Car Accident Claims Life Of Truro Native Living In Montreal
MARIEVILLE, Que. - Hugh Snook of Montreal was killed, and seven persons were injured, five severely, in a two-car collision near here Sunday night.
Mr. Snook, 56, was a native of Truro, N.S., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Snook of North River. He had lived in Montreal since 1945.
The injured were identified as Donald Labbe of Montreal, Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Leblond, their son, Pierre, 9, Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Chartier and their son, Rene, 12, all of Sherbrooke.
Provincial police said a car carrying Labbe and Snook crashed into the car at a curve in the highway near here, 20 miles east of Montreal.
Mr. Snook is survived by his wife, living in Truro; a daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Aubrey Creelman), Hyde Park, New York; a granddaughter, Dianne Creelman; three brothers, John and Henry, both of Truro, and Crawford, Tatamagouche, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Hull, 34 King Street.
Remains will be forwarded from Montreal to Kennedy's Funeral Home in Truro. Funeral arrangements will be made later.

TRURO, Dec. 2 – Funeral services were held at the Kennedy Memorial Residence on Friday afternoon, November 20, at 3 o'clock, for Hugh Randall Snook of Montreal, who was killed in a car accident at Marieville, Quebec, on Sunday night, November 15.
Mr. Snook was born in March 1903 at North River, the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Snook. He was a resident of Truro until he joined the R.C.A.F. During the second world war, after which, during the past 14 years he has resided in Montreal.
The remains arrived in Truro and rested at the Memorial Residence until time for the funeral the following afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Stanley MacQueen of First United Church, assisted by the First United choir who sang “The Lord's My Shepherd”, and Percy Kennedy sang “The Lord's Prayer” as a solo. Mrs. D.E. MacPhee presided at the organ.
The pallbearers were Alvin Snook, Ray Hull, George Davison, Fulton Weatherbee, Marvin Blair and Fred Totten.
Interment was in the Upper North River cemetery. There were many beautiful floral tributes.
Mr. Snook is survived by his wife in Truro (the former Ruth Fulton of Upper Stewiacke); one daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Aubrey Creelman) of Hyde Park, New York; one granddaughter, Miss Dianne Creelman, Hyde Park; one sister, Mrs. Ella Hull, 38 King Street, Truro; and three brothers Henry, Bible Hill; John of Truro; and Crawford of Tatamagouche.
Mr. Snook spent his vacation in Truro last summer visiting relatives and friends.
