I also have some interest in the St.Esprit area.
My line was Mclean from North Uist
John McLean & Sarah McLean who were married in Tigharry, North Uist had several children there, then when they came over had there next child in St. Esprit, James born in 1845.
They didn't stay there long, three of the daughters married men in Hillside Mira, so they were in that area most likely and then the remainly family settled in Point Aconi- so I had to follow them all over the island.
I believe they stayed with Sarah Mclean 's people in St. Esprit, putting her as a possible sibling to Donald Mclean and Effie MacDougall, John McLean & Catherine Shaw, and Archibald McLean & Flora MacDonald all born in North Uist and children of Laughlin McLean and Catherine MacQuarrie. The above families all pioneered in St. Esprit.
I have researched this line for 30 years now, also with the help of Bill Lawson (Scotland)and Blair MacAulay who has extensive research in North Uist.
Anyone reseaching in that area with knowledge of the above can hopefully exchange any info with me.
