I am looking for a woman about whom I have very little information. The facts we do have are the records from the Home of the Guardian Angel in Halifax. She left two boys, Frederick and Ernest there, we have baptism records for the two boys. Her name on the paperwork is Margaret Johnston. Fred was taken to work at the Macleans Farm in Beaver Cove, by Michael Maclean, when he was five. He is listed as living there on the 1921 Census, age 10 years old. Ernest is very close to the same age in the baptism records, but the only birth records I can find of a Ernest, show twins born in 1909 an Ernest and Alexander born to Anne Day and Harry Johnson with a note on Ernest that he was also known as Murray.
Now, according to family legend, Fred knew his mother growing up as Annie O'Day and his father as Harry Johnson. Family legend says Ernest's last name is Murray. Margaret/Annie apparently lived very close to them in Beaver Cove, although she was apparently married five times and had other children. No one currently alive can remember which children shared which last names, but the last names she may have had, that I gathered are Day/O'day, Johnston/Johnson, Murphy, Murray, Folks and Brophy. No Idea if any of these are her maiden name. Other children are named William, Ned(who we are pretty sure is a Folks), Katherine(Kay), Alice, Mildred, Arthur, Mable, and Min(Minnie?). Margaret supposedly died in 1944. Any information would be appreciated.
