Does anyone have a transcription of the above cemetery and would be willing to look for information for Ethel (PEEL) BUCHANAN? I know her husband John MacLeod Buchanan died in 1953 and was buried there. Hoping there may be information for her with him.

Thank you for any information you may be able to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I'm hoping to get more verifiable information. Many times, when trying to get source info from an on-line tree poster, turns out they got it from someone who got it from someone who got it from someone else who has no clue where they got the info.

Very wise attitude-some ridiculous errors have been perpetuated on online trees. Official Nova Scotian Vital Stats can be accessed at

www.novascotiagenealogy.ca

This is a site maintained by the Nova Scotia Archives and is free and searchable. It does not include records that fall within the Privacy Act period (for births-100 years; deaths-50 years; marriages-75 years. You may need to download a viewer program which is free onsite to see the actual record.

The birth certificate of Ethel Jeanette Peel can be seen at the above site along with the marriage record of her parents E C Peel and Elizabeth Dunsmore. E C stands for Elvin Charles but his birth record (also available at the above, records him as Charles Elvin). He was a young widower when he married Elizabeth. Incidentally Charles birth record also records the date of marriage of his parents, a common practice then. I suppose to expose any “irregularities”.
The 1901 and 1911 census can be searched free at

www.automatedgenealogy.com

Below is a direct link to the page where you can view Ethel, age 5, living with her widowed mother, Lizzie and her brother Earl and sister, Jennie

All Canadian Census can be viewed free at

http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/Pages/census.aspx

It’s not quite as user-friendly as the automated genealogy site. However I had no problem finding William and Almira Peel on the 1881 Census with their family of 8 children including 11 year old Elven.

All the above information can also be accessed on the LDS site at
www.familysearch.org

However many of the documents there are not available for viewing. Only the sources are cited.
Hope this helps in your search for actual documentation
