There seems to be some confusion. John William Burke marries Hannah leonora Broderick on Oct. 18, 1866. They have 3 childern, Margaret, Mary and Patrick. Found next door to Benjamin Boon in 1891 census. Margaret Burke marries the boy next door, John Boon. In the same town their is a John H Burke and Nora Burke, who adopted Mary Broderick found in 1881 census. Mary Broderick is the same age as Daniel Broderick and Sarah Broderick's daughter found in 1871 census lingan mines C.B. Daniel dies in 1875 and Sarah Brodrick is found in 1881 census with James Boon and Alice Broderick. Sarah Broderick would be the 2nd wife of Daniel Broderick and Mary Burke being the 1st. Peter Broderick is found in the house of John H Burke and Nora Burke in a later census and living next door to them with wife Hanorah Broderick in the earlier one. No children can be found for either of these married couples, except adopted daughters. John H Burke's wife Nora is most likely and older daughter of Daniel Broderick and Alice Murphy, making her a sister of the younger Daniel Broderick. Peter is most likely the youngest brother of them both. With no records kept between 1867 and 1907 and no children born, it is hard to connect the dots. The 1861 census was used to figure age and sex range with the process of elimination. The records that do exist, offer no real information, but Julie Cote' was able to find grave stones in Main a Dieu for John W. Burke died Sept. 10th 1905 age 71 Hannah Nora his wife died in 1903. and In Memory of Hannah Brodrick beloved wife of John W. Burk who died in 1903 aged 72 yrs. This would be the parents of the children at the top of the page. The death records found for the other John H Burke and Nora Burke can be found in the historical record base. Mary Elizabeth Broderick the last child of Daniel Broderick and 2nd wife Sarah, Married John Richard Burke and 2 of their children are named Daniel and Nora. Mary dies on Jan 25, 1940 age 73 yrs. 4 mo. 22 days. No real information provided on death record, just her own name with maiden name. Now, I am confused too. Hope someone some day can shine some light on this, but until then this is what figures with how they are all connected.

Just found obit for John Burke Died 1908 with information that cross references. Maybe the 1903 is really 1908 with someone making a mistake, or the tombstone is worn down.

Hello, I've done a lot of research in the past and just thought I'd take a look around. I came across your post and thought I may be able to help or at least add some more confusion. I don't have any birthdates listed for Mary Broderick as I was more searching the Boone's. You say Mary is Daniel's first wife and Sarah is his second. The information I have in my tree shows Daniel Broderick's wife as Mary Sarah Burke, daughter of Michael Burke, who dies in 1866. I wonder if Sarah may have been a daughter of Daniel's and Mary's. Just throwing it out there. I haven't researched anything in a couple of years.

Hi, Trevor. I think we have talked before. We know Mary passes before 1866 because of marriage record for James Boone and Elizabeth Broderick list her as deceased. Julie Cote sent me a copy a while back. Being that two Daniel Brodericks exist, father and son. It gets a little confusing. I still believe Sarah to be 2nd wife of the son Daniel Broderick. There could have been a Sarah Broderick daughter because both Daniel Broderick's had daughters and the older census only give age and sex. Which Boone family line do you come from? I am of Benjamin Boone b. 1831, first son of James Boone. Are you related to Daniel Broderick? I have tried to research and document, as much as possible for future use because as the internet expands information seems to be falling in though cracks. I have saved hard copies as has Julie Cote, my long found cousin, Hi Julie! Check out my thread and see, if anything is of interest. Have you ever thought of joining the BooneDna project?

Hi Daniel, I'm sure you are correct about the Daniel's and Sarah's. Last night was the first time I looked at this in a long time. I haven't researched anything in the last 2 years. I put in 2-3 years prior to that and kind of hit a roadblock. I've just subscribed again to see if I could find anything new.

Hi Trevor; I just found this page and am thinking you may have found some info that connects with my family. My Grandmother was Ann Broderick from Main-a -dieu, Cape Breton. She was born 1 Sept 1846 to Daniel Broderick and Mary Burke. I have heard that Daniels father may also be named Daniel but we don't know for sure. I'm just learning how to do this ancestry thing so not so good at finding the info I need. I am pretty sure that my grandparents were married in St Ann's catholic church in Glace Bay in 1868. So she should be on any census records before then. Any info you may have would be much appreciated. I do have a picture of her as an older person.
