Surnames: McCarron
Hi Dennis - my husband is a Pictou County McCarron, we think his great, great, great grandfather was John McCarron m. Bridget McCabe, born approx. 1815 Ireland, emigrated to PEI about 1870, family eventually moved toward Pictou/Antigonish Counties. We're new at this and just beginning and that's as far back as my info goes but I do have an extended family group sheet for all of the descendants of the pioneer family from John McCarron on. Any further info would be greatly appreciated and I would be happy to share anything that I have as well.

I am researching my McDonald line from Antigonish. John McDonald b: 1848 married Annie Chisholm b:1852. They lived in Briley Brook. Thay has two sons William A and Hugh, 1889 and 1890. There was a Martin McDonald and and Ellen Chisholm living in the house in 1891 census. I am wondering about John and Annies parents and what happened to Hugh?

Surnames: DOF family updates - McCarron
My mother's sister was the mother of 9 McCarron children in Trenton, all of whom would be my first cousins. Your husband would be related to them as well, but not likely to me. He is however a cousin to Sidney Crosby, and I can document that. contact me by e-mail at dennisryan7@hotmail.com and we can exchange info.

thanks for your reply.

I am sorry, but I do not have these individuals in my database so, I am unable to offer you further assistance.

Any further info on your end?

Surnames: McDonald Cameron McGillivray
Dennis -

I would be interested to know if your McDonald research includes my gr-gr-grandmother Catherine McDonald, wife of Dougall Cameron. I have a copy of Drummer on Foot, as well as the history of Antigonish books, but have not traced any ancestry for Catherine McDonald.
Her husband Dougall Cameron was the eldest known son of Laughlan Cameron and Catherine McGillivray (Nighean Dhomhnuil ‘ic Aonghais na Drochaide). They resided on the west side, South River below “The Bridge”, later moving to the farm formerly owned by Donald McGillivray, at what is now known as Glen Alpine.

Thank you very much for your interest and replies to the questions on this message board.

Whom do you suggest were the parents of Catherine McDonald. I have a number in my database, one married to Hugh Oban Gilis, and another married to John Ban MacPherson. two others show up unmarried or no info on Marriages.

That's the problem - I have no leads or information on the parentage of the Catherine McDonald married to Dougall Cameron as mentioned in my previous post. None at all.

Interesting...it seems you are referring to Uncle William's family in Trenton. I am the 13th child of William's older brother, John B. (Jack). I would like to share family history with anyone who might be interested. By the way, I am well aware of Sidney Crosby's connection with Uncle Gregory & the McCarron family.
