Looking for info on Big Angus Gillis (Aonghas Mor) and wife Mary MacDonnell (daughter of Philip of Glengarry) who emigrated from Morar in 1801. They had a farm on the west side of the South River. Their family was three sons and seven daughters. Son John died during the construction of a Glebe House at St. Andrew's. Other sons were Donald and Archibald. Daughters: Catherine married John MacEachern, Cape George and Keppoch; Ann m. Ronald MacDonald, Morristown; Mary m. Andrew MacNeil, Cape George; Isabella married Andrew Gillis (Oban) and was mother of Msgr. Hugh Gillis, St. F.X. rector; Elizabeth m. Andrew MacGillivray, Caledonia; Margaret m. John MacGillivray, Dunmore and Flora m. James Foley, Springfield. Catherine died at St. Andrew's in 1894, aged 94.
Have more info on descendants for anyone who may be of this family. Mary MacDonnell Gillis had a half-brother Archibald MacLellan and three sisters who came to Antigonish County. Thanks.
