I am looking for information on the family of Major Messenger and Emma Lovina Foster. They were married in 1868 in Clarence, NS. In 1871 they lived in Bridgetown, in 1881,1891,1901,1911 the lived in Carleton Corner, Annapolis, NS. I am looking for the names and births, deaths of any children born to them. I have found some birth records for a Freddy A and Eliza Mary, the father was named as Major Messenger and mother was Emma Wilson. I know that Emma was married again but after Major died. I do not know if Major was married prior to Emma Foster? According to census' I have found there is Frederick and a Mary but I am unsure of who the birth mother is, and I haven't found any birth records for any of the other children mentioned: Herbert, Maud, Clara, Ethel, Cassie, Emma, Bernice, Harry. Some other people I have found on the census' living with them include Emma M Spurr, William A Spurr, May E Spurr (listed as daughter possibly Mary Eliza), Bessie Wilson (boarder) , Samuel Durling, Caroline Durling, Edith Bent. Any information would be greatly appreciated about either of these people, their parents, children and spouses etc. Thank you

There were at least two Major Messengers. One married Emma Wilson in 1866. He was the son of Daniel and Ethelinda Messenger. Then there was Major Albert Messenger, who married Emma L. Foster. There is an excellent listing for this second Major on Rootsweb. This Major was the son of Timothy. The Rootsweb site will also show that a number that family ended up in Lynn, MA. Major died there in 1913.

yes I am finding this a bit confusing for sure. The marriage record I saw that was for Emma L Foster and Major Messenger the parents of M. Messenger were listed as Daniel and Athalinda Messenger. I found this on Nova Scotia Vital Statistics page https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/ItemView.aspx?ImageFile=.... I was looking in the Foster Genealogy by Fredrick Clifton Pierce where it said that Emma L d/o William and Hannah Huntington married Major Messenger s/o Daniel Messenger. married ____ Jenness in MA.

I found the marriage record in MA for John W Jenness and Emma L Messenger 13 DEC 1886 in Lynn MA. She lived in Massachusetts until her death around 1915. So I will look at the stuff on Rootsweb and see if I can get any farther but thank you for your help.

I mixed up the parents.

The Major with all the children was married to the Emma Wilson. That marriage is on the vitals site, but the page does not show parents. Rootsweb will explain it better than I can.
