Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Hi there: I'm searching for an Elizabeth Cassell, born about 1901, Harbour Deep or Great Harbour Deep, Bonavista Bay, NL. She was married to Kenneth White of Pools Island, BB, NL. I don't know if you have already checked the Newfoundland Grandbanks Genealogy site or not but if you haven't it is definitely worth a try. Try the Bonavista Bay District. If you have anything on this Elizabeth Cassell I would greatly appreciate knowing her parents and siblings.
Thanks.

Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Harbour Deep is in White Bay, not Bonavista Bay.

Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Sorry, my apologies. Her husband Kenneth White is from Greenspond, Bonavista Bay. Sorry for the mistake.

Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Hi Can you clarify this for me please?
William Ricketts married twice - first to Salina, they had 1 child Abraham. William then married Mary Ann, daughter of George and Abigail Cassell? Children of William and Mary Ann Ricketts - Julian, Alfred, Thomas, Benjamin, Edmond, Louise, Dinah & Elizabeth.
The "other children" Fanny Louise, Joseph, Samuel, William and Obediah. Were they siblings of Mary Ann?. Thanks.

Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Hi Lori (and June) I don't have a great handle on the Cassells, but I believe that Mary Ann Cassell who married William Ricketts was the daughter of George Cassell 2 and Dinah Bath. The first Cassel to come to Newfoundland from England was George Cassell 1 and George Cassell 2 is one of his seven sons. The others were Thomas, William, Joseph, Levi, James and John.
June's grandmother, Elizabeth Cassell who married Abraham Ricketts (William's son by his first wife), was the daughter of George Cassell 4 and Abigail Canning. George Cassell 4 was the son of Joseph Cassell 1 and Elizabeth Liscombe (Luscombe). And yes, there was a George Cassell 3; he was the son of Thomas Cassel 1 and Elizabeth Gillett. He married Charlotte Squires.

Re: Ricketts / Cassell / Canning
Hi again~ I forgot the last part of your query. Besides Elizabeth who married (1) Abraham Ricketts, (2) Charles Andrews, the other children of George Cassell and Abigail Canning were: Fanny Ann (not Louisa), Joseph, Samuel and William. As far as I can tell, Obediah Cassell was George's brother and thus Elizabeth's uncle, not her brother. I knew Fanny, Joseph, Samuel and William but Lizzie (Elizabeth) had passed before I went to GHD. (John Edgar)
