Hi Ruth,
Henry Hynes & Jane Secrey were my ggrandparents. The parents of Henry Hynes were Joseph Hynes m. to Annie Ralph. The father of Jane Secrey was Thomas Secrey but I dont have her mothers name. The Scerey's lived in Pacquet, Nfld. As for the Hynes, they were the first to settle in Exploits Harbour, Nfld.
You can email me anytime.

The mother of Jane Sacrey and wife of Thomas Sacrey was Theresa Warford. She was born at Harbour Grace (as was Thomas). And she lived to be a good old age of 103! She died Jan3, 1914 at Pacquet, which was then called North East Pacquet. Thomas & Theresa are my gr-gr-gr-grandparents. Melissa Mitchell

Hi Tammy, As far as I know, the Mitchell's and Sacrey's are only related through marriage. My Great grandparents were Enos Mitchell and Isabella Sacrey. Isabella is the daughter of Richard Sacrey and Priscilla Squires. Richard is the son of Thomas and Theresa.
Thomas's parents were Zacharias (sometimes spelled Zachariah) and Elizabeth Sacrey (maiden name unknown).
I don't know who Theresa's parents were.
The info I have says that Zacharias and his 2 brothers, Peter and Stephen, came to the Harbour Grace area in the late 1700's from Channel Islands. But I believe Zacharias' family are the only ones that moved to the area of Pacquet.
I hope this helps some, please let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with. Melissa

Do you know if Thomas or Theresa were of Indian Decent, we have heard that Thomas was Eskimo and Theresa was Indian.
Thanks

Not that I know of. I really don't know anything about Theresa's decent. And as I mentioned before, the Sacrey's are from the Channel Islands, which is mainly British and French I believe. The only Sacrey-Inuit connection that I know of is farther down the line. Thomas's grandson Dorman married an Inuit woman from Nain, so many of the Sacrey descendents are Inuit. 2 or 3 other of Thomas' grandchildren married Mitchell's, who are of Micmac descent. So I don't know if maybe these marriages are why the Sacrey name has been associated with the background. Sorry I can't be of more help.
