Hi Melissa:

I was wondering if you could help me with something and that is I was wondering if you know where I could obtain the census records on the secrey and what is the correct spelling of the last name, we always thought it was spelled sacrey.

We are also still searching for information on William and I am also wondering if you know what year to look for information on Thomas and Theresa on the census.

Any help you can give me would be great!

Thank-you

Tammy Peddle

Hi Tammy,
The correct spelling is Sacrey, but the spelling in different records gets changed.

On the Grand Banks website (http://www.ngb.chebucto.org/) you will find most of the Sacrey's living in Northeast Pacquet (Pacquet), Southwest Pacquet (Woodstock), and Ming's Bight during the 1921, 1935, and 1945 census.

Thomas & Theresa were already deceased before 1921. Mary Ann was living on Bell Island by 1921. I haven't found William in any census records in my research so far. Jane was in Jackson's Arm in 1921.

I hope that helps. If you have any questions about any of Thomas & Theresa's grandchildren specifically, just let me know who and I'll let you know if/where I've found them in the census records.

Dear melissa:

I was wondering if you could tell me who Janet Sacrey is I found her when I was searching Pacquet, NL and she is the town clerk there.

We are assuming that William might not be in the census and that he might have died a very young age before the census was even taken, I am waiting to hear back from my uncle on that and I will let you know for sure.

I was also wondering if you have any information on the Warfords and we have none, anything you would be willing to share would be very grateful.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank-you

Hi Tammy,

I think your assumption about William may be right, because he seems to have disappeared.

Unfortunately I don't have any information about the Warfords. If I ever find any I will be sure to pass it on.

As for Janet, I apologize but I don't put info on public websites about living individuals. I had a bad experience a few years ago. But I can tell you that she is not a Sacrey by birth, she married into the family. And I can also tell you that, as far as I can tell, all Sacrey's on the Baie Verte Pennisula are descedants of Thomas and Theresa. Sorry that I can not give you more than that.

But please feel free to ask about anyone who is deceased. I have combed through all the census records of this area and been through the cemeteries, so I have lots of info.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you Uncle has to say about William.

Talk to you again soon.

Melissa:

Just wondering if you know where Thomas parents names are and where they originate from and also wondering if you know the names of Theresa's parents and where they originate from as well.

Anything you have would help!

Thanks

Surnames: Hunter - Sacrey connection
I am a decendant of Aunt Hermenia Hunter Sacrey, she married Dorman Sacrey while he taught in Nain, Labrador as a young man.
My relation to Aunt Hermenia is thru my grandfather on my mom's side ~ Jonas Hunter, she was his sister, they had one other sister ~ Judith Hunter. I remember meeting Uncle Dorman when I was about 14 years old, he told me a story about when he first met Aunt Hermenia, it was a very nice story!! I am trying to put together my family tree which includes the Sacrey side of the family. I have some info but still trying to put more info into the tree!

Hi Tammy,
I don't know who Theresa's parents are. And I received the names of Thomas' parents (Zacharias & Elizabeth) years ago from another researcher. The story I have is that Zacharias and his brothers, Peter & Stephen, came to NL from the Channel Islands. I have not found the records myself to back this up. They went to Conception Bay. Peter & Stephen are buried in Harbour Grace.

I hope that helps a little.

I know many of Dorman & Hermenia's descendents. It's nice to hear from you. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to help. Thank you for this information about her family.

Hi,
Do you or anyone else know when Zachariah and Elizabeth Sacrey died and where they are buried.
Thanks.
