My grandfather, William Walsh was born in Port Saunders around 1880. I know he had a brother Michael and a brother Isac. He also had 2 or 3 sisters. I don't know their names.

William Walsh married Elizabeth Mahoney from Conception Harbour. That's where he stayed and raised three children. While living there, he also went to Boston for ten years.

I'd like to find out more about his Port Saunder's family.

Hello Garry,

My Dad was born in Bartlett's Harbour. His father's name was Michael...I am not sure about my grand-father's relatives as my grand-parents had died when I was just a young girl. Michael (my grand-father) wife's name was Julia Francis Rumbolt. They had six children....3 girls & 3 boy's. They grow up in and around Port Saunders, Bartlett's Harbour. I know that my grand-fathers name was also Michael Walsh. We had relatives that lived in Corner Brook by the names of Caines & Rumbolt's. I believe that Michael Walsh senior was from Killkenny, Ireland. This would have been my great-great grand-father. I hope this little piece of information helps in your endeavor to find your family roots. PS: some of the people mentioned on birth information I have on my family include....Rumbolt's, Caines, Lavers......

I am also looking for a Walsh family. James Walsh who married Isabella Elizabeth Hynes/Hinds/Haynes. They had 2 children that I know of ... James Walsh who married Johanna Pittman and Alice Walsh who married Christopher Mahar. I would like to know if they had any other children. And also if anyone has any more information on any of these people.

Your relative, Joseph Welsh, the eldest son of John and Charity Unknown Welsh, was probably born in Islington (formerly Island Cove), Trinity Bay and baptized in Green's Harbour, Trinity Bay, as was the norm in those days. I say this as his 10 younger brothers and sisters were all born in Islington (island Cove), Trinity Bay.
Joseph's 1st wife , Agnes H Clarke, born 1866, Heart's Desire, Trinity Bay, died 1904 , Sally's Cove, Bonne Bay.
It appears Joseph and Agnes had 12 children.
Joseph remarried Levinia Sooley on March 20, 1912, in Heart's Content, Trinity Bay. He died September 6, 1929, Islington, Trinity Bay and is buried in Heart's Delight, Trinity Bay.
I have much information on this family and would be happy to share.
