Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi, I'm looking for any info regarding the family of Victor and Elizabeth Young from Calm Bank Cove, now Lourdes. Their daughter, Margaret, was my husband's great-grandmother and we are trying to do a family tree. Would love any info. Thanks in advance.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Was Margaret born c 1904? There is a Victor (widower) age 45 in the 1912 census for Clam Bank Cove. It can be found on the NFGenWeb site, West Coast, Port au Port Peninsula area. There are tons of Youngs in the area. In the early years they were known as LeJeune, an many older records can be found on the NFGenWeb site, West Coast, Bay St George, records of the Immaculate Conception RC church. (That was the original Catholic Church for the area (1850), until St Stephens opened up in Stephenville in the late 1800's.) You might also try Google-searching for Jasen Benwah's genealogy info, since he has lots of information posted on Benoit's and LeJeunes. Good luck.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi - I'm looking to establish the family of Annie Young born aprox 1877 in Fox Island to Jean LeJeune and Celina Young. Annie married John McIsaac in 1895 and on her marriage record it shows her to be from Clam Bank Cove. I believe Annie had a brother John who was married to Flossie Bruce. Would love to find more siblings. Valerie.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi, I think the Youngs that you are looking for are not the ones I'm in search of - sorry. The Ann and John that pop up in my husband's tree are the children of Victor and Elizabeth Young, ranging in birth years of the late 1890's. Hope you have more luck. Sorry I couldn't help.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi Jackie: On the marriage record I have for John McIsaac and Annie Young it shows John as the son of Angus McIsaac and Kate Campbell of Grand River. It shows Annie as the daughter of the late John Young (Jean LeJeune) and Celina Young of Clam Bank Cove. Valerie.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi Jackie: On the marriage record I have for John McIsaac and Annie Young it says that John's parents are Angus McIsaac and Kate Campbell of Grand River. They were married in 1895 and the record was located in St. Stephens Roman Catholic Parish in Stephenville. Annie Young was from ClamBank Cove.. I haven't been able to "exactly" identify who the parents of Angus McIsaac were. There seem to be differing opinions about that. Valerie.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Thanks Valerie: I will keep this message and keep a lookout as well. I have not tackled the MacIsaac family yet. But I intend to do it eventually. I cannot comment because I have not thoroughly investigated the NL records, and would not be of any help at this time. However, should I come across anything, I will keep you in mind. Thank you for your reply. Researching MacQuarrie, MacDonald, MacIsaac, Hall, Gale, and MacLellan. Jackie

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi Valerie: I stumbled upon this website today and got alot of answers to alot of questions that I had regarding my family.Let me give you a brief history of my family. My maiden name is "McIsaac" and I live in Piccadilly on the Port au Port Pennisula. I am one of the siblings of the McIsaac/Young family. It goes back a ways but here it is: My father is Angus McIsaac of Piccadilly; his father was Alex (Sandy) McIsaac and his mother was Susan Benoit; John McIsaac is my fathers grandfather and Annie Young is his grandmother. They all came from Clam Bank Cove (Lourdes) and later my grandfather (Sandy) settled in Piccadilly after he was married. I have been searching out the McIsaac's for the past couple of years and came to a block wall because I did not know Annie's maiden name. My father (Angus) died less than 2 years ago so I am kind of on my own trying to search out our family. In reading your messages you say that it is your husbands family that you are searching out (Annie Youngs family). Then I guess we are related. I would like to know you husbands name so send me an email asap.

Re: Youngs from Calm Bank Cove (Lourdes)
Hi Michelle: I was pleasantly surprised to receive your email as I have now found another "relative" in the ever growing McIsaac/Young connection. I have tons of info on the McIsaac's and I'm working very hard on the Young connection. I have been in contact for a year or more with your father's sister Margaret (Kelly) who lives in South Carolina and she sent me a beautiful photo of Sandy and Susie. They would be your grandparents. Sandy and my mother-in-law Mary Barrett (McIsaac) were brother and sister. Mary Barrett is still living and is 93. She quite often talks about her Newfoundland family and I try to be there when she does so I don't miss out on any of the possible genealogy connections. My husband is Ross Barrett - and Annie Young (who married JOhn McIsaac) is his grandmother. So that would make your father and my husband first cousins - right? Ross says he remembers your father and your Uncles Carl, Norman and Clyde visiting with his mother and father here in Sydney. I'd like to continue this privately so email me and we will continue. Glad to have made this connection - Valerie.
