Looking for ANY info on Captain Jack. I know he had a son named Angus that married Mary MacInnis from Inverness County. Angus was a carpenter. He and Mary and a number of children in Cape Breton (some were born in Sydney and the younger children were born in Codroy Valley) and moved back to Codroy Valley and both died there around 1916 or so.

ANY info is helpful! Thanks!

I want to help -- but don't think I know enough. My Martins (St.Martin) were also ship's captains of Codroy and the Martins, Gillis, and MacIsaac families were often associated.

My greatgrandfather and great grandmother are:
Allan MacQuarrie and Euphemia MacDonald MacQuarrie they had the following children:

Angus, Johnson, Neil, John, another Neil, Mary, Margaret, Jessie, Flora and Catherine Anne - all born Port Hood, Cape Breton (Mabou) -

The entire family moved to Codroy Valley along with all the other Scots - somewhere 1860's (but I am not certain of the year) Allan MacQuarrie is buried in St Andrews Cemetery having died Jan 1899.

I am decended from JOHNSON MACQUARRIE WHO MARRIED CATHERINE ANN MACLELLAN daughter of Dan MacLellan of Broad Cove, Cape Breton and Catherine Gale (daught of James Gale & Judith (Hall)Gale born Codroy area NL

Mary MacQuarrie , daugh of Alllan and Euphemia , married Captain John MacIsaac son of John and brother of Anugs "Ferry" of Port Hood, Cape Breton
with issue:

Alex, Angus, Allan, stanley, Mary, Jessie, John and five
who died of diptheria.
ANGUS MACISAAC, son of Captain John, married a Miss MacInnis, sister of Archie MacInnis of Inverness

Mary MacIsaac, daughter of John MacIsaac married Dan MacGillvray of Sydney.

Jessie MacIsaac, daught of John MacIsaac & Mary MacQuarrie married Allen Campbell son of Malcolm Campbell.
_______________

Then to top it all off to confuse it even more:

Mary MacQuarrie who married John MacIsaac (captain) from Port Hood, her sister named Jessie MacQuarrie married Allan MacIsaac, brother to John MacIsaac husband of Mary MacQ.
So two sisters married two brothers.

Jessie MacQuarrie and Allan MacIsaac had:

Dan, Angus, Mary, Euphemia, Margaret and Catherine:

Dan MacIsaac son of Allan MacIsaac & Jessie McQuarrie
married a Mrs. MacInnis (don't know why it says MRS) and they lived in Indiana

Angus MacIsaac son of Allan MacIsaac Mary Ellen MacLeod

Allan MacIsaac - no info

Mary MacIsaac married Michael (Mike) MacNeil

Euphemia MacIsaac married Angus MacNeil

Margaret MacIsaac married John Campbell

Catherine MacIsaac married a Mr. Anderson of Sydney

_______________

Also, my grandfather's brother named Angus MacQuarrie married Mary Ellen Ryan (of Newfoundland)in 1888 with issue:

Joseph, Michael, Margaret, Julia, Anne, Minnie, Monica, Clara, Rose and another Margaret

Julia married Richard Philpott of Sydney
Annie married Bertram Downey - Jan 30, 1922
Minnie married Murdock MacIsaac son of Alex and Isabel MacIsaac
Monica married Mike Hollerhon
Clara married Wallace Benoit Nov 27 1922
Rose - no info
Margaret married Angus MacIsaac brother of her sister Minnie's husband Murdock , they married Jan 16,1912

So here we have two more MacQuarrie sisters from another generation marrying two MacIsaac brothers!!

Hi, I was excited to find your post - Allan MacQuarrie and Euphemia MacDonald are my great great great grandparents. I have been trying to find out more about the Newfoundland connection in our family. Mary and Captain John are my great great grandparents and Mary and Dan MacGillivary are my great grandparents. So you and I are second cousins twice removed. Thank you for the information!
