Surnames: Rowe/Ryan/Young
I am a ggrandaughter of Amable Rowe and Catherine Ryan. My grandfather was their first child, born in Port au Port in 1898. His sister Mary was born in April 1902. Catherine was the daughter of Dennis and Sarah Ryan and she died in 1903. Amable remarried and had 4 more children with Mary Young - Joseph, Martin, Henry and Sarah. I am looking for anyone who may have been familiar with this family. Amable and Catherine's family lines are well documented - however - I would like to know when and where Amable died. I would also like to know how Catherine died (she was only 28) Also, anyone with any info on daughter Mary - she apparently migrated to NY at some point and died there in 1969. Her story is a complete mystery. Also, what became of Martin and his sister Sarah? Any help anyone has would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi there- this is a long shot as it is 8 years since you even posted this. Joseph was my grandfather. Are you still looking or did you find anything out?

Hi Wanda,

I guess that makes us cousins of sorts! I remember your grandfather from my childhood - he and your grandmother came to visit us on PEI a few times. I have found some info out but am still looking . . . . Do you have info? Maybe we should talk and compare notes . .. . I live in the Portland, OR area. I would be happy to call you or you can call me if you like - whatever works best for you. Which of Joe's kids is your mother/father? I met Bertha when I was in Halifax a number of years ago . .. .

Hi there- wow I didn't think you would actually even respond :) Bertha is actually my aunt- my dad is her second youngest brother, Donald. I honestly don't have much info beyond what Aunt Bertha has given me but I am now at a point where I am really curious and would like to know more so I am going to be digging. I also have a cousin in Nova Scotia who might be able to help now that I am willing to start the process. I would love to chat and hear what you have learned. I was quite close with my Nana but only met my grandfather a few times when I was much younger before he passed away. I am in Alberta, Canada but I have free calling to US so I can call you if you'd like. Could you email me directly at wandarowe51@gmail.com so that it is not posted up on this site? W
