Hi Lorna, I am also a great great great granddaughter of Catherine Jennex. She married Sandy Wells and had my great grandfather, John Wells. John and his wife Doris had George,Sandy,Lillian,James,Utley,Delores,Rita, and Donald. I, like many am trying to connect my miqmaq descendants. Catherines parents were Clarice Benoit and James Y.Jennex. Clarice and James Y Jennex are said to be buried in Frances Nose Cemetery in Nova Scotia. Any Help you can provide would be great. Thank you. Jennifer

Hi I am Jane Jennex's GGG granddaughter on the Baker Side, she married John Bakker, they had Reginald Baker who is my great grandfather, who then had Verdun who is my grandfather and the only child from Verdun and Verna was Donna Baker who is my mother.

I know that Jane Jennex was a miq'mak, not sure if full blood or not, but it is certain she was at min a half breed Metis.

My mother remembers Jane, she was 10 years old when she passed on. She remembers a young native boy that used to visit her regularly, not sure if this is the Joesph her illegitmite son.

We have a bible going back one hundred years, hopefully there I can find more information.
I do need help though verifying her native status. Clara Benoit was from Newfoundland. She married James Y Jennex. They had Jane and one other girl Sarah? not sure on that.

Any further information if you have it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chantal LeBLanc

Hi Chantal
James Y Jennex and Clarisse Benoit were my great-great grand parents. Your ggg grandmother Jane was my gg grandfather (William Walter)'s sister. Howdy, cousin.

Here's what I have on Clarisse Benoit: I have one photo. Send me your email address (mine is steve_jennex@yahoo.ca) and I will send you the photo. My records indicate that Clarisse msy have been born in France and traveled to Cape Breton before moving to Newfoundland where she met and married James Y Jennex who was a general goods merchant and lobster packer in Bay of Islands, Newfoundland. I had heard some stories that said she was native Indian and there are some documents that say her parents were Nicholas Jean Sebastien Benoit and Theotiste Jesseau (native surname?).

Surnames: Benoit/Jennex
both my cousin in Boston and myself in Halifax are building our family trees and have found that Clarrisa is our great grandmother and the Jennex are her inlaws. We have a lot of data but somes holes after Sebastien Benoit.
