Hi Tilson.
You seem to have your email address blocked from view so I'm replying via the board. Anyway, I believe that I've found your grandparents' marriage in 1906 in the Musgravetown Methodist records. Also, your grandmother's baptism took place in 1887 and is in the Musgravetown Methodist records. If you're able to connect the Ivamy's of Jamestown and Portland and area to those in English Harbour, Trinity Bay, then I may be able to assist with earlier generations of the Ivamy family.
Meanwhile, I'd be interested in chatting about your Greening ancestors. William Greening and Emma Ann Stagg were my great great grandparents.
- David.

Roslyn: My name is Wendy Millar. John Ivany Pitcher of Grand Falls, NL was my grandfather. He and Stella Pitcher had 6 children (Winifred, Cornelius (Son), Cecil (Sash), Walter (I guess your grandfather), Raymond and Anthony. Winifred is my mother. I remember your grandmother, Marion, when I visited Grand Falls. Would be good to hear from you. wmillar123@hotmail.com

I know that you wrote this a very long time ago but I was transcribing death records for Newfoundland for 1937 today (FamilySearch) and I came across an entry for John Ivany of Portland, Newfoundland. He died November 21, 1937 of cancer at the age of 85.

Thanks for transcribing death records for NL for 1937 on FamilySearch.org. I appreciate the work you do for all of us!
My 4th g-grandmother was Mary Ivany/Ivamy (1777-1819) who married William Wells (1771-?) on 10 April 1801 in Trinity.

Hi Cathy, Sounds like we stem from the same family tree. Love to know which of Mary and William's children you decend from. My 3rd great grandparents were also Mary Ivany and William Wells.Their son Joseph, bapt. April 14, 1804, English Harbour. married Sarah Penny October 21, 1828 in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity, Trinity Bay, daughter of Samuel Penny and Elizabeth Miller. Their son James Wells, born November 29, 1836, English Harbour, Trinity Bay, died. December 21, 1884, Trinity Bay, He married Alice Goldsworthy November 06, 1871 in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Trinity, Trinity Bay, daughter of James Goldsworthy and Sarah Miller. James was baptized 22 January 1837 at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Trinity, Trinity Bay. Buried in Trinity East-Port Rexton Anglican Parish, Trinity Bay, Nfld. Baptized Sept 9, 1849 Alice daughter of James & Sarah Goldworthy Planter of Salmon Cove. Baptized byThos M Wood. James and Alice were my great grandparents.Their daughter Amy Ann Wells married Joseph Barnes (my grandparents) 16 years after Joseph died Amy Ann married Alexander Ivany. Amy Ann's mother Alice (Goldsworthy) Wells remarried after her husband James died to Richard Barnes abt. 1884. There were children born from this marriage also.Amy Ann was only 6 years old when her mother remarried. I have for many years been searching for the parents of my grandfather Joseph Barnes. He was born November 1874 in Salmon Cove (Champney's) Trinity Bay and died November 29, 1924 in Shoal Harbour, Trinity Bay.His marriage record states his father's name was John but his mothers name was not listed. One of my uncles, now deceased thought her name was Susan but he could not say for sure. I have heard that the Methodist church had burned and so were the records. This has been a major stumbling block that prevents me from looking any further into my Barnes ancestry. I do know that my grandfather Joseph Barnes had an older sister Esther who married Simeon Adams and someone in that family may have records and know who Esther's mother was. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who can help.

Hi my information indicates that Joseph Barnes parents were John and Elizabeth Barnes - don't know her maiden name. They had a daughter, Esther who married Simeon Adams @Shoal Harbour on Dec 24, 1882. And a son Frances baptized May 30, 1873 @ English Harbour And a son Joseph, my info was that he was born sometime in 1874
My Reference for these records is Catalina Methodist, so these records are still around It's been a while since I have done any research in this area. You might want to have another look at the Catalina records on Newfoundland Grand Banks website.
