Hi there,
It's me again. I am now responding to your message with regard to Brazil. William Brazil who married Sarah Barrett in June of 1824 was the brother of John Brazil who also married that day to Frances Foster. John was my great great great grandfather. His brother would have been a ggg uncle. We have been unable to find any information on him after 1824.

Hi, I was looking at a Vokey message board and saw the following data you had on Gosses and Vokeys. Catherine Brazil of Spaniards Bay, was the daughter of Diana Vokey and Michael Brazil. Diana was the daughter of Aaron Vokey and Jane Gosse of Spaniards Bay. Jane Gosse was the daughter of John Gosse and Elizabeth Collins. They were married on January 23, 1806. I have been researching Vokeys for some time now and I am very interested in anything you might have on the Vokey and Gosse families. My ggg grandparents were Phillip Vokey 1793 and Dianna Gosse. I'm thinking that your Aaron Vokey may be in my family tree. Would you please let me know if you have any other data that you could share?

Re: Lock, Locke, Hiscock...Brazil/Brazill, Sarah??
Re: BRAZIL(L) name in Spaniard's Bay & Harbour Grace areas of Newfoundland. My query is through my Philips/Phillips family research.
I have the following for years from 1816 - 1820 baptisms of three sons to John & Sarah Philips residents of Colliers, Newfoundland. They had sons, John baptized June 1817 @ *St. Paul's Anglican; William Brazill baptized September 1820; and Job baptized November 1825...{*I also found the baptism for John @ Church of England - all details were the same}, Harbour Grace, Newfoundland.
I'm trying to verify if Sarah's maiden/family name was BRAZIL/BRAZILL?? Could her father's name be William? Who her family could be & where from? I do know that my Phillips family have been in Colliers, Nfld for many, many years. That being said, I do know that for a certain period of time, families that wanted their children baptized would take them to a parish that would accommodate them. It wasn't until the middle 1950's before Colliers established a parish & then prior to that it was a "mission" of a parish for the neighbouring town of Conception Harbour, Nfld.
{**Note: I'm still not certain that the John & Sarah Philips/Phillips I'm querying are definitely my relatives. However, my GrGrandfather b. 1852 & Grandfather's b. 1881 first names are, John!}.
If these names are family or related to you or even if you have other information that I could pursue, please reply. Regards, Nora :)

Re: Lock, Locke, Hiscock...Brazil/Brazill, Sarah??
Thank you Ms. White.
I did find a marriage record for William & Charlotte. However, their marriage year, 1853, is well after the William Brazill Phillips born 1819 to John & Sarah Phillips. Could very well be a relative.
I'm trying to connect William's mother, Sarah, & if her maiden/family name is Brazil(l), going by William's second name listed on his baptism record as Brazill, baptized 1820.
I found two other sons' baptisms as I mentioned before, John baptized 1817 & Job baptized 1825, neither of these sons are listed with middle names.
Regards, Nora :)
