My great grandmother's maiden name was Susannah PENNY, born in Cuslet. Could this be part of the info you are looking for? She had several children, only the girls survived. She married Patrick O'REILLY, and lived to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary.

This message is in response to a reply given by Karen Picco-Chiasson with regard to the PENNY family name. There is not a address for Karen Picco-Chiasson so I am trying to make contact here. Would this Susannah PENNEY have been related to the PENNY's from St. Kyran's, Placentia Bay? A Joseph PENNY/PENNEY married a Nancy RYAN - both were from St. Kyran's.They had 7 children: (1.Charlotte who married Garrett HICKEY, 2.Ann died young, 3.Theresa died young, 4.Elizabeth who married ?? BROWN, 5.Isabelle who died at birth, 6.Isabelle who died young and 7.Alphonsus who married Catherine MULLLALEY). It was thought that Joseph PENNEY had a brother Peter but I cannot find anything to back this up on record. During my research there was information about a Susannah (Suzy) PENNEY who married an O'REILLY and had at one point lived in Labrador City were some how related to the family of Joseph PENNEY. If you know of any relation or informtion about Joseph parents or silbings it would be appreciated.

Re: Penny/Penney research
I believe we may be related! At least by marriage. My husband's mother was Beatrice Wilson - in her line were Dove's, Young's and Penney's. One of the Penney's was married to a Power. I am at work right now and don't have the tree in front of me - if you email me privatedly I will look it up tonight and get back to you.

Re: Penny/Penney research
I found my Poore (Power) connection and it was in our YOUNG family instead of Penney. We have Betty Poore (possibly Power) married to Andrew Young - all I have is that Andrew was christened in 1821 and he and Betty had 4 children - Patience, Katie, Tom, Lavinia. Guess its' the wrong family. Sorry!

They had 13 children.

Re: Penny/Penney research
Catherine I am also related to the Penney family of St Kyrans. In particular my connection is through Mary Ann Penney, who married William(Bill) Brown of Petite Forte. We were always told that she was the grand aunt, or grand mother, of Archbishop Phonse Penney, son of Phonse Penny and Catherine Mulally. I have been unable to make the appropriate connection to Joseph Penny and Nancy Ryan. Do you have Mary Ann in your family tree? Fred fredpearson@hotmail.com
