Surnames: Norris, Lash
My great-great-great grandparents were William and Mary Norris (nee Lash). They were both born about 1817. They were married on November 29 1845 in Witless Bay. They had 9 children that I know of. I would appreciate any information regarding the Norris or Lash family.

Thanks,
Karen Pearce

Surnames: NORRIS, WALSH, WHITE
I have traced my Grandfather's birth in Boston 1919 to my Great Grandfather William J (possibly Joseph) NORRIS a dock builder from Witless Bay who with my great grandmother Rose WALSH (remote possibility of a relation to the WHITE family) from Bay Bulls. The Norris line arrived in Newfoundland from either County Cork Ireland or Wales but I am not sure on the year, but I know for sure we were married into Mi'kmaq at some point. Not much but, it is half from grandpa's birth certificate and the other half from grandad telling me while at the wee age of 10, getting it all out before the tobacco cancer took him.

I too am looking for the Tobin family of Bell Island. I believe my grandparents were Margaret (Jackman) and Lawrence Tobin--great grandparents Nicholas and Mary Tobin of Witless Bay

My research shows that the Norris Family was in Witless Bay mid to late 1700's. My father said the family was from the West Country of England .
