Samuel Joseph Hannaford is indeed your great grandfather's brother. I am delighted to have gotten your post. I also have two obits from another brother Patrick who passed at your great grandfather James' home if you don't already have them. I was also at the Rooms in 2012 when I went back home in 2012. I did find evidence of Patrick & Teresa as you did however I know him as William Patrick (USA). We (my brother Wes and I) still have to verify if this is correct. Some of them were born and resided in the US and some went to NF.

Theresa Walsh I did not know her birthdate or her parents. I do have a 1920 US Census Brooklyn Borough, New York County, Kings. She is listed as Theresa Handford Head Age 60 Widow Status Alien Immigration 1915 (the same year I have as Patricks' passing) with Thomas (age 32) and Laurence (age 26) both naturalized 1905 for Thomas and 1910 for Laurence. Cannot tell if its a 'W'. I've attached it as well as a picture of my grandfather Sam Hannaford, James Joseph's brother. My mother always said my grandfather was the kindest gentlest man she ever knew.

Legros I have no knowledge of but I have knowledge of Legrow's one of the Legrows married a Healey (Catherine Healey was married to Samuel Hannaford).

According to ancestry we are second cousins so Hi cousin. I hope some of this helps and you enjoy the picture. The original picture also has another man in it but he got cropped. Perhaps you can identify if I can ever find where I got it. Regards from a born and bred Newfoundlander.

That's great info thanks!

It is certainly possible that Theresa Walsh's mother's last name was Legrow. The documents were not very clear. Our first thought on seeing Teresa's baptism document was that it was "Legros", but elsewhere (marriage cert. or maybe the directory) it looked like "Le Grou" or "La Grou." The Mary Legros from Ontario has a birthdate that makes sense but I don't have a ton else to go on to be sure it's correct.

My father, who was born in Brooklyn in 1943 and lived there until the mid-1950s, doesn't have any recollection of Teresa Hannaford/Walsh. He remembers her daughter (his grandmother) Susie Hannaford very well. Are you sure she lived to 1960? Or did she maybe move back to Newfoundland or somewhere else at some point? That's what's making me hesitate a tiny bit here.

Hi cousin. Just found out that the gentleman with Samuel Hannaford (my grandfather) is in fact James (Jim) Healey our cousin. Now I have to find out where the original picture I cropped is. Sure do love this genealogy business especially researching. It is indeed a kinder way of admitting that I lost it. Have you found out anything more regarding Mary French whose mother was a Legros or Legrow? I have to confess I don't remember researching either one but I've been up since 1:00 am and I'm surprised I remember my name. I have been trying to find her with absolutely no results. Regards.

Hello!
My great grandmother is Elizabeth Varga (Healey) who is the only sister of Phillip, Martin and their other brothers. Do you have any information on Phillip and Martin's maternal or paternal grandparents? I can't find any information past their parents (William Healey and Mary Butler). Also I can give you more information on Elizabeth and her descendants if you would like it.
Thanks,
Bcbold2

Hi!
Yes, I can help you with William's parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, as well as Mary Butler's parents. I would love to have information on Elizabeth and her descendants, not for publishing of course.
Do you want an attachment through here or via email?
Nice to hear from you.

Trishe

Hello!
My great grandmother was Elizabeth Varga (Healey). She was the only sister of Philip and Martin and their other brothers. I believe my Philip is the same as your Philip so that would make us cousins! If you would like any information on my great grandmother or her children, etc. please let me know either here or through a private message.
